their position in the horoscope Aspects/other relations to the dasa lord and the Antardasa lord.The most commonly used dasa system in vedic astrology is vimsottari dasa system.
This dasa system operates from the time of birth with the dasa of the lord of the natal moon. The number of years assigned to each planet are as follows:
Sun – 6 yrs Moon – 10 yrs Mars – 7 yrs
Rahu – 18 yrs Jupiter – 16 yrs Saturn – 19 yrs
Mercury – 8 yrs Ketu – 18 yrs Venus – 20 yrs
The dasa period of each planet is further sub divided into
1. Antardasa
2. Vidasa
3. Sookshamadasa
4. Pranadasa
The order for sub-periods is also the same as main dasa.In predictive astrology in addition to vimsottari dasa system the following

2. Shodasottari dasa

4. Panchottari dasa
5. Sathabdi dasa
6. Chaturaseeti dasa

But the most popular method in usage is Vimsottari dasa.
Lord of main period gives good or bad results by his position, his temperaments and house significations it is
positioned in.
Lord of Ascendant’s period.If he is strong highest post, happiness, strength of body, luster, development day by day are
the results.If he is weak or badly positioned fear, disease, mental aliments, displacement are the results.
Lord of second Bhava – If strong and well positioned development of family, happiness through daughters, happy meals, wealth and respect are the results
If he is weak and badly positioned insult hearing bad news,loss of wealth are the results.
Lord of Third Bhava – when he is strong and well positioned.In his period results are development of relations between brothers, bravery, respect, victory, fame.If he is weak and badly positioned
